Irene Morgan joins Mansfield Lions Club

At the Mansfield Lion’s Picnic earlier this month, the club installed new members, including Irene Morgan, Executive Director of Partners In Progress.

“My decision to join the Mansfield Lions Club was driven by the opportunity to combine my interest in contributing to a philanthropic mission with my background and strength as a human service leader for the past 20+ years,” says Morgan. “I have witnessed firsthand the good works that our local Lions Club has done in the community over the years and was so honored to be asked to join.”

Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.

Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization with more than 1.3 million members in approximately 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world. Since 1917, Lions clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired and made a strong commitment to community service and serving youth throughout the world.

The Mansfield Lions Club meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays of every month at St. James Episcopal Church in Mansfield, PA – 7 p.m.

Partners In Progress celebrates Flag Day!

On Wednesday, June 14th, Partners In Progress held a Flag Day celebration. The event was organized by PIP’s Joseph Rogers and was attended by approximately 100 people, including MU President Fran Hendricks, Senator Joe Scarnati’s Field Representative Deb Rudy, and Dawn Hull from the Mansfield Chamber of Commerce.

The flag ceremony was conducted by the Austin Cox American Legion Post 478 and Mansfield VFW Post 6757 with assistance from Mansfield Boy Scout Troop 106.

The event also featured two “living history” military vehicles from the Military Vehicle Preservation Association of the Finger Lakes – a 1951 ‘M135’ and a 1952 ‘M38.’

Staff from Partners In Progress served 200 hot dogs and refreshments to everyone in attendance and gave away free hand-held American Flags.

Come celebrate with us! On Wednesday, June 14th, Partners In Progress will be holding a Flag Day celebration. The event is open to the public and will take place at PIP located at 332 South Main Street in Mansfield beginning at 11 am.
The event will feature a display of military vehicles, veterans’ groups, and local dignitaries from around the county. A formal ceremony and pause for the Pledge of Allegiance will follow.
Members of the Mansfield VFW Post 6757 will be in attendance to conduct a flag retirement ceremony. VFW members will demonstrate the dignified and proper method of disposing of faded and torn flags. The purpose of this ceremony is to encourage proper respect for the Flag of the United States and to provide for the disposal of unserviceable flags in a dignified manner.
Staff from Partners In Progress will be serving hot dogs and refreshments and free hand-held American Flags will be distributed to everyone in attendance.
We hope to see you there!
