Direct Support Professional (CLA RSS) – full time -

Starting Rate is $15.00 per hour for daytime hours and paid sleeping hours on overnight shifts.

Schedule: 40 hours per week, varying schedule may include a combination of days, evenings, weekends, overnights (“sleep” and “awake” hours) and some holidays. Schedule will vary to meet agency and program needs. Please note: this is NOT a Day Shift Only Mon-Fri job and WILL INCLUDE a combination of shifts.

Qualifications: Valid driver’s license. Must have a satisfactory three (3) year driving history; previous experience working in Human Services or with individuals with Intellectual disabilities preferred but not required; satisfactory background clearances and 3 year driving record check which will be conducted at time of hire.

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide support and attend to daily needs of Individuals with Disabilities in Residential Group Homes in Wellsboro and Mansfield. These homes are like any other home in the neighborhood but are staffed 24/7 to make sure we are supporting those that reside there. This is a meaningful job where you can make a living while also improving the lives of others!

No experience is required to be hired, but upon hire you will receive PAID training and gain skills in becoming First Aid/CPR certified; Medication Management; and Fire Safety; to name just a few.

You will be a part of a growing and dedicated organization whose mission is to help individuals with disabilities succeed. In the past 25 years Partners In Progress has grown to include 6 Group Homes; a variety of Supported Employment Programs including a Vocational Training Facility; Highland Chocolates Factory and Store; My Neighbor’s Closet Thrift Store; a Janitorial Crew, and various other partnerships with area groups. Many who start as a DSP may stay in their role for many years, but others may advance when opportunities arise whether in the Group Homes or any of the other Agency programs. Advancement Opportunities are advertised internally first. We value our staff and often engage in activities for team-building and morale boosting through raffles, gifts, gatherings, etc throughout the year.

Residential Group Homes are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so staff are needed for a variety of hours. Staff are permitted to sleep during the overnight hours. You get paid $15.00/hr, even while sleeping!

Job Responsibilities:

Assists Program Participants to attain daily living skills that allow them to become more independent and self-sufficient.

Maintains the physical site in a safe, secure and clean condition.

Completes all shift requirements prior to leaving duty.

Establishes and maintains strong and positive community contacts that are in the best interest of both the program individuals and the agency.

Submits all written documentation required for the program on or before the due date and without prompting.

Maintains accurate records, goals, documentation, ledgers, receipts and other materials relevant to Program Participants’ progress, health, activities and financial records.

Acts as an advocate for Program Participants; promotes and provides community involvement opportunities for Program Participants when they express interest as identified and authorized in the Program Participants’ ISPs.

Assists in the development of Individual Support Plans (ISPs), Assessments and Quarterly Reviews in cooperation with the Program Participant being served, Lead Staff, Supports Coordinators and Residential Program Specialists.

Reports medical issues immediately. After proper training, administers first aid as necessary. After proper training, administers medications in accordance with Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations for medication administration.

Safely transports Program Participants or supervises Program Participants during daily transportation when directed to meet program needs.
